Shade Sail Fabric and Construction

Our sails are manufactured in Australia by a company that has 25 years of experience in making both yacht sails and shade sails.

All stainless steel fittings and perimeter cable are of 316 marine grade steel and will not rust or corrode when exposed to the elements. Thread used in sail construction is German-made and carries a 15-year warranty.

Anchor points for sail installation are typically 4 ½" Schedule 40 steel pipes (powder-coated or galvanized), 6"-8" pressure-treated posts, existing buildings or a combination of these; this depends upon individual installation specifications. For larger commercial applications engineered structures may be employed.

Avoca Shade Systems exclusively uses Rainbow Shade Z16 shade cloth fabric as it has consistently proven itself under the harshest Australian conditions for the last 18 years and has shown that it retains its UV protection properties as well as its colour whilst maintaining shape and form well past the manufacturer's 10 year warranty. The fabric has received the best test results in Australia (under Australian Standards AS 4174-1994) and is highly recommended and approved by engineers, architects and shade sail manufacturers for its long term strength, quality and colour retention.
